Groups & Committees

Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a group of volunteers who help prepare the sanctuary for the worship services. They set up for and clean up after communion, and take care of and change the paraments and banners for the different seasons of the church year. Individuals serve a month a time and assist one another in their duties. If you would like serve in this way, please contact Joanne Michel or Edith Chambers at info@gracelutheranaurora.com.

Choir
choirChoir of Grace sings to the Glory of God and to enhance the worship at Grace Lutheran Church. To that end, we sing a variety of music to fit the worship theme of the service. You may hear us sing Southern Gospel, German chorales, modern anthems and anything in-between to provide a variety of worship enhancements. Our accompaniments have been organ, keyboard, Psaltery, full orchestral CD's, and members of "Grace Notes."

Grace Notes consist of instrumentalists within the congregation. Currtently our group consists of violin, trumpet and flute. We welcome anyone else who would like to join Grace Noes playing occasionally for our worship.

Choir rehearses vary depending on time of year and we would welcome participation by anyone who would like to use their voice in praise and worship of our wonderful Lord.

Highlights of our choir year include the Christmas Program with the children, Ascension worship, and of course Easter. We've sung at the nursing home in Mt. Vernon and in Aurora as well as in the Christmas parade in past years. We sing anthems at least monthly from September through May. Come, Join Us!

Outreach Committee
OutreachThe outreach committee at Grace Lutheran fulfills our motto: Founded on Christ... Focused on Community. Outreach brings an awareness to Aurora and surrounding communities of our churches availability to learn about Christ.

We have varies activities though the year for the community and congregation to be involved in.

Some of the events and activities that the Outreach Committee is involved with include: Easter Lenten Fair, Parents Night Out, Springfield Cardinals, Aurora Christmas Parade, Aurora Car Show, Assisted homeless at local Bluebird Motel, Christmas gifts for Aurora Nursing Center and an Angel Tree at Christmas.

Earlier this summer we had a fish fry and attended a Springfield Cardinals game. The first weekend in October we had a booth at Aurora downtown car show. We had free hot chocolate and coffee for passers by. We always welcome new ideas and help with any outreach activity. Inreach Committee
OutreachThe board of Inreach is responsible for reaching into our congregation and offering fellowship and service. They assist with our Christian Education, Fellowship, Older Adults, Stewardship, Youth, Young Adults and Young Families. If a member has a need in our midst, the board of Inreach determines how we can fulfill that need.

Some of their recent events included: our annual fish fry held every fall. Game nights are also hosted once a month on Saturday evenings at the church with supper provided. Watch the calendar for dates.

When there are 5 Sundays in a month we have a 5th Sunday friendship dinner/potluck following church. Bring any dish to share and enjoy!

There will be a soup supper on the first Wednesday of Advent and Lent. A Christmas program will be the Sunday before Christmas and there will be a pot luck dinner after the service.
